What’s it like to introduce business leaders to Paycom — and to inspire Paycom’s next generation of leaders? We sat down with Zac, Manager of Sales in our Dallas office, to find out.
In my four years at Paycom, I’ve truly learned what winning means. I’ve had the opportunity to succeed alongside my team, train and develop future Paycom leaders, and learn from incredible people who have been here for years.
Achieving lifelong goals
I discovered Paycom through a lifelong friend. I originally wanted to be a Broadway performer but had big financial goals, so I set my sights on sales. Having no experience, I was worried I might not get hired. That all changed when I interviewed with Paycom. They took a chance on me, developed me and poured their knowledge into me. After my first year, I was thrilled to become one of Paycom’s top five Sales Reps in the nation.
Thanks to my role at Paycom, I was able to pay off my student loans, take dream vacations and buy my first house. I received a promotion to manage the Sales team in Dallas, and now I get to develop a team the same way my leaders mentored me. I love giving back and helping my peers succeed. This journey is so exciting. Everyone’s passion and drive are so infectious.
A culture of winning
It is so fulfilling to grow and succeed as a team. Being surrounded by winners really elevates your work ethic and just makes you excited to show up every day. I felt that from the first interview, so now I really try to create that culture here in Dallas.
My favorite memory so far has been my first President’s Club. I got to go to Hawaii, bring my best friend and accept my award. It was so rewarding to be named the No. 1 team and to set the record we did that year. All the long nights, training sessions and cold calls made it all worth it in that moment. We had worked so hard to become No. 1, so seeing that come to fruition, there was nothing like it.
Leading with empathy and gratitude
Those of us in sales and leadership roles often meet with people who need empathy because they’re dealing with something that doesn’t work. They need someone who can listen. When you can really feel the emotion of the person in front of you and make them feel like the most important person in the room — because they are — it really does help. It’s also important to approach each day with gratitude. Everyone here approaches all they do with gratitude, and that is so key. I am so grateful I get to do this every day.
Becoming the best version of myself
Paycom has truly helped my confidence grow and helped me become the best version of myself. It comes from being surrounded by executives each day who are all working toward a unified goal. It pushes my mental capacity. It challenges my work ethic. And you get rewarded at Paycom like no other company. I am also able to support friends and family, and that has fulfilled me and brought me more joy than probably anything else.
If you love to win and be surrounded by people who are filled with integrity, work ethic, passion and gratitude, work at Paycom.
